Permanent Education Number (PEN) — Official Guidelines

The Permanent Education Number (PEN) is a unique 11-digit national student identification number allocated to every school student in India under the Ministry of Education's U-DISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education) national database.

• How to Obtain: Parents seeking admission to Classes I through XII are requested to obtain the child’s existing PEN from their previous school. The PEN is generally printed on the child's Transfer Certificate (TC) or previous school Report Card, or can be obtained from the previous school's administrative office.
• Admissions Desk Support: If the child does not have an existing PEN (e.g., joining from an unrecognised pre-school, homeschooling, or if the previous school has not allocated one), our dedicated Admissions Desk (+91 9012777716 / info@theadhyyan.edu.in) will provide direct assistance to help locate, retrieve, or register the child's PEN on the U-DISE+ national database.

📱 Digital Upload Specifications on School Navi: Supported file formats are JPEG, PNG, PDF, and WEBP with a maximum file size of 2 MB per document. Physical verification of original certificates will be conducted at the school Admissions Desk prior to final admission confirmation.

❓ Admission Documents & Verification FAQs ▼
Q: Are report cards or TC required for Nursery, LKG, or UKG?

A: No. For a child joining school for the first time in Nursery, LKG, or UKG, no previous report card or Transfer Certificate (TC) is required. You only need to submit the Municipal Birth Certificate, 4 student & 2 each parent photographs, Aadhaar copies, and the Medical Fitness Certificate.

Q: What is the Permanent Education Number (PEN) and what if my child doesn't have one yet?

A: The Permanent Education Number (PEN) is an 11-digit national student ID under the Government of India's U-DISE+ portal. For Classes I to XII, parents should obtain it from the previous school (printed on TC/report card). If your child does not have one yet or was previously in an unrecognised kindergarten, our Admissions Desk (+91 9012777716) will guide and assist you in retrieving or registering the child's PEN on U-DISE+.

Q: How does Provisional Registration work for Class XI (Results Awaited)?

A: Class X students can register provisionally using their Class X Pre-Board or Mid-Term marksheet to reserve their desired stream (Science, Commerce, or Humanities). Provisional registration guarantees your stream seat reservation but is distinct from confirmed admission. Confirmed admission is granted once the official Class X board marksheet and passing certificate are submitted within 30 days of result declaration and fulfill stream cut-offs.

Q: Can a student get direct lateral admission into Class XII?

A: Direct admission to Class XII is strictly regulated under CBSE bylaws and subject to seat vacancy. Class X qualification alone is not sufficient; Class XI completion and passing must be verified. Parents must submit Class XI passed report card showing subjects, Class XI CBSE registration details, Class X qualification documents, TC, applicable CBSE transfer/approval documents, and child's Permanent Education Number (PEN).

Q: What if the previous school has not issued the original TC or report card yet?

A: Parents can upload the previous term's marksheet / provisional passing certificate and initiate online registration on School Navi. The original Transfer Certificate (countersigned if from outside UP) and PEN must be submitted to the Admissions Desk within 30 days of joining.
